Barka Canada delegation met today with Phoenix Drug & Alcohol Recovery and Education Society representatives Michael Wilson and Alison Silgardo. The Society’s vision of services guided by current health promotion concepts, a developmental model of recovery and the multi-dimensional model of the therapeutic community, a whole person/whole systems perspective on social learning principles. The mission of Phoenix Drug & Alcohol Recovery and Education Society is to encourage and assist British Columbians in achieving personal, family and community health free from substance misuse. Wally Placewicz presented Barka’s activities and network in Canada. The meeting included discussion about organizing study visit and tour of the Phoenix Society facilities and service locations in near future.
